Application Rental (or ASP — Application Service Provision) is a technology that involves the organization of remote access to a server where certain software is installed. Access to the service is provided via the Internet, a dedicated or local network. The payment model is rental: the client pays a certain amount for a specific period of providing access to the software.

One or more users can use the leased software at the same time. The access rights to the software remain under the control of the provider.
Any organization that has all the necessary software and hardware resources to implement ASP can act as a lessor. In addition to providing access directly to the software, the provider assumes the tasks of maintaining these applications.
