Ethernet

Ethernet is a technology that allows you to transfer information between devices in computer and industrial networks. Ethernet works only over wired networks.

Features

  • Ethernet speeds range from 10 Mbit/s to 10 Gbit/s.
  • The connection is laid with a UTP 5 cable (unshielded twisted pair of category 5). For higher-speed communication, a cable of categories 5e or 6 is used.
  • The wired connection is protected from signal loss. This is especially important, for example, for banking structures and in other cases of the need for a stable uninterrupted signal.
  • Ethernet is more secure than a Wi-Fi connection. The router is usually located in the same room with the devices, so access to it from the outside is very limited.
  • The cost of installation and maintenance of wired networks is significantly more expensive if we are talking about laying Ethernet not for private use.

When deciding on the type of connection, you should start from the features of Ethernet. This type of communication is not particularly popular at home. For providing Internet to commercial and other types of organizations, Ethernet is more advantageous from a security point of view.
