NVIDIA Tesla V100

The NVIDIA Tesla V100 is a graphics processor (GPU) based on the NVIDIA Volta architecture. It is designed for data centers and acceleration of various tasks, including AI, high-performance computing (HPC), processing large amounts of data. NVIDIA Tesla V100 is the first GPU model to break the 100 teraflops (TFLOPS) barrier of deep learning performance.

Key Features

The Tesla V100 is available in 16 GB and 32 GB configurations, providing performance that is equivalent to 100 CPUs. The high level of performance allows data scientists, researchers and engineers to devote more time to AI development instead of memory optimization.

Power and performance

The V100 with its 640 tensor cores is designed for the convergence of AI and high performance computing (HPC). A single server equipped with V100 GPUs can replace hundreds of servers with central processing units (CPUs) for traditional workloads.

Physical dimensions

NVIDIA Tesla V100 is designed to be installed in high-density servers typical of modern data centers. The exact dimensions of the Tesla V100 vary depending on the specific model. For example, the SXM2 Tesla V100 with NVLink connection has a more compact form factor than the PCIe.

Connectivity options

The Tesla V100 does not have traditional display outputs because it is not designed to be directly connected to display devices.

Instead, it communicates with the rest of the system via a high-speed PCIe 3.0 x16 or NVLink connection, depending on the specific model. Due to this, the V100 interacts quickly and efficiently with the central processor and system memory.

The Tesla V100 also supports NVIDIA NVLink technology, which allows multiple GPUs to connect directly to each other for faster data exchange.

Areas of application NVIDIA Tesla V100

Scientific research. The V100 allows scientists and researchers to perform complex calculations on large amounts of data to model and predict various phenomena in fields such as quantum chemistry, hydrodynamics, and climate modeling.

Machine learning. Thanks to tensor cores, the V100 is well suited for training complex machine learning models in which large neural networks are trained on huge amounts of data.

Business analytics. The high data transfer rate makes the V100 the optimal solution for business intelligence applications that require fast processing of large amounts of data in real time.
