The Open Virtualization Format (OVF) is an open source standard for packaging and distributing applications for virtual machines (VMs). The OVF package contains several files in the same directory. The directory always contains an extensible markup language (XML) file, called an OVF descriptor, with a name, hardware requirements, and links to other files in the package.
